PhD Position in Neurobiology University of Würzburg, Department of Nerobiology
DescriptionPhD Position in Neurobiology at the University of Würzburg, Germany
A PhD position is available in the Institute of Clinical Neurobiology in Würzburg, Germany to investigate neurotrophin signaling in the hippocampus in synapse-specific mouse models. A major goal of this project is to understand the spatial and temporal signaling of the neurotrophin BDNF at pyramidal neurons of the hippocampus. We want to find out how BDNF signaling at the mossy fibre synapse affects the fear behavior of mice. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a good background in neurobiology, molecular biology (viral techniques), or expertise in electrophysiological recordings in brain slices. The applicant will find a project which is well embedded in the research focus of our Institute. He/she will have access to a modern and well-equipped research facility, and will work with already available, unique mouse models. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, CV, a concise description of research interests, and contact details for two references to Robert Blum, Ph.D., email: Blum_R@UKW.de. The project is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft TRR58 and the position is available for up to four years. Applications from severely handicapped persons with basically similar qualification will be given priority. Salary will be according to TV-L. http://www.neurobiologie.ukw.de/personenverzeichnis/pd-dr-robert-blum.html Job Information
