The successful candidate will join a team of investigators led by Professors Nathaniel Daw and Jonathan Cohen, who are collaborating with other project PIs, including Yael Niv, Kenneth Norman, and Nicholas Turk-Browne on the study of cognitive control. The research would involve the use of fMRI plus computational modeling to study the computational and neural mechanisms underlying cognitive control, and how they give rise to self-control in humans. The Princeton Neuroscience Institute is a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment that provides full access to state-of-the-art research facilities and excellent support for career development. Initial appointments are for one year with the possibility of reappointment based on satisfactory performance and funding. This position is subject to the university's background check policy.
Essential Qualifications
PhD in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science, or other closely related fields, plus a strong track record of research. Candidates must also be able to pass a standard MR safety screening in order to work in the MR environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with computer programming (Matlab, Python, R or equivalent) and strong analytical and quantitative skills are strongly preferred. Experience with behavioral experiments, fMRI (especially using newer analysis techniques such as MVPA), and/or computational modeling (machine learning, reinforcement learning, connectionist, Bayesian models) are an advantage, though not strictly required.
