Job Description:

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, and Egyptology welcomes applications for a full-time professor of practice position (associate-level or professor-level) as director of the psychology unit training clinic, to begin Spring 2016 or Fall 2017. The typical contract is 5 years with opportunity for renewal. The in-house training clinic is an integral component of the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. The clinic is expected to offer 1,800 hours of direct client contact to about 225 clients from the university community over the 2016-17 academic year.

The candidate will be responsible for directing the operations of the training clinic for 9 months of the year (September to May). The candidate will be involved in improving the standards of the clinic; developing and implementing strategic planning and regular assessments; establishing daily operational procedures and manual; renewing risk management protocols; overseeing facilities and related equipment; training related staff and orienting faculty and students; and supervising trainees. The candidate will also establish partnerships with university and external entities and enhance the clinic's capacity to offer outreach and consultation.

The candidate will be an active member of the psychology faculty and participate in departmental, school, and university service. The candidate will teach two graduate and/or undergraduate courses in the Fall and Spring semesters related to their professional practice such as clinical psychology, psychotherapy models, practicum, and internship.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology, preferably with a practitioner-scholar or scientist-practitioner model. We are seeking candidates with experience in diverse or integrative psychotherapy modalities and commitment to cultural competence. As a professor of practice, the candidate should have an ongoing psychotherapy or counseling practice and a positive reputation in the professional community. The candidate should have previous administrative experience, preferably related to graduate-level psychology practitioner training centers. The candidate should demonstrate skills or potential in high quality teaching and supervision and be familiar with the philosophy and operations of clinical training centers at graduate programs in the U.S. Familiarity with the local culture and Arabic language are preferred.
