PhD Student in Neurobiology Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg
DescriptionThe Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg seeks to fill the following vacancy: Stipend for a PhD student in role of interneurons in modulating behaviourally-relevant network oscillations (Reference ABINEP/2016/Module 2/PI Stork & Munsch: Faculty of Natural Sciences, Institute of Biology & Medical Faculty, Institute of Physiology).
This project will utilize in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology and state-of-the-art molecular and cellular tools (transgenic mice, pharmacogenetic approaches, expression analysis) to dissect the role of different interneuron populations in the brain regions associated with the formation of emotional memories. The position is part of the International Graduate School on Analysis, Imaging, and Modeling of Neuronal and Inflammatory Processes (ABINEP). Requirements for the position: We are searching for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in applying electrophysiological and molecular techniques. The candidate should hold a master’s degree, diploma or equivalent in psychology, neuroscience, medicine or a related field. Experience in electrophysiological recording techniques and advanced data analysis is advantageous. Applications from disabled persons will be given priority in the case of equal suitability, ability and professional expertise. The Otto von Guericke University aims to increase the proportion of women researchers within the university and specifically encourages women to apply. Further details about the open positions in the ABINEP International Graduate School can be found at: http://www.grs.ovgu.de/grs_media/Ausschreibungen/ABINEP_scholarships.pdf. Please submit your application as a single pdf to abinep@ovgu.de, cc’ed to oliver.stork@ovgu.de and thomas.munsch@med.ovgu.de (a CV, transcripts and certificates, a letter of motivation, and the names of two references). Please mention in the header and body of your email that you apply for Module 2 and wish to be supervised by the PIs Stork and Munsch. Job Information
