Assistant Teaching Professor in Counselling Psychology

The Department of Educational Psychology and Leadership Studies, University of Victoria invites applications for a position at the Assistant Teaching Professor level in the area of Counselling Psychology to begin July 1, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is for an individual with background and specialization in Indigenous counselling and healing as well as in Western theory and approaches to counselling. As part of the Counselling Psychology Faculty, the successful candidate will take on a leadership role in coordinating and teaching in both the Community-Based Counselling Program (CBCP) and the Indigenous Communities Counselling program (ICCP), and become an integral part of the on-campus team. Our Community-Based Counselling Programs focus on providing students with the ability to complete their graduate degrees in their home communities, with regular on-campus visits. In the ICCP, Indigenous community needs and partnerships are a central focus and community voices have guided, and will continue to guide, the ICCP delivery. In addition to teaching, leadership, and coordination of both CBCP and ICCP deliveries, the candidate is expected to:
Requirements Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree in counselling psychology; must demonstrate a record of successful teaching in a post-secondary institution at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels; and must have successful experience working with Indigenous Learners and/or communities, or in other community-based contexts.
