The College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) is looking for qualified academic faculty members who are willing to join its dynamic teaching workforce for the next academic year 2017-2018. The posts available are open for applications.
Sultan Qaboos University is a well-known higher education institution in Oman. It encourages its faculty members to conduct research, be innovative in the field and publish in international reputable refereed journals. SQU with its nine colleges strive to seek academic accreditation from renowned internationally recognized accrediting agencies. Some of its programs have already been granted international recognition.
The College of Education pays great attention to academic accreditation and quality assurance. It has been recently accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE); currently called Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The College is also proud that some of its programs were internationally recognized by their respective Specialized Professional Associations (SPA) in the United States.
Conditions for the Post of Assistant Professor and Above
1. PhD or equivalent
2. All academic degrees should be awarded by universities equivalent in rank to the universities that SQU sends its academic staff on scholarships to. The equivalency in ranking should be based on internationally recognized criteria (e.g. THE, QS, Shanghai, SCIMAGO) and according to SQU regulations.
3. The candidate’s study of his degrees should be as full time.
4. Applicants should have studied relevant courses to the specialization for two semesters in the Master degree or in Doctorate degree with at least 3.3 GPA on a 4-point scale and in total of at least 12 credit hours per semester.
5. In addition to the previous conditions, candidates applying for the posts of Associate Professor and Professor have to meet the employment criteria specified for academic faculty members at SQU as stated in the University bylaws.
6. Meeting the specialization’s conditions.
7. Applicants to Assistant Professor positions who have certified experience in teaching and research are given priority over their counterparts.
8. Candidates applying for Associate Professor posts must have at least 3 years of experience in university academic teaching in his/her specialization after obtaining the PhD, while applicants for full Professor posts are required to have 5 years.
9. Candidates applying for Assistant Professor posts should not be above 50 years old.

6. Employment letter issued by the current university of the applicant stating the courses taught for the last 5 years.
Special conditions for the job:
- · Published researches in his filed on local and international scientific journals.
- · Capability in both Arabic and English language (both writing and speaking).
- · Had conducted funded research projects.
