NYUAD Postdoctoral Researcher, Social Psychology New York University Abu Dhabi, Psychology

The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is inviting applications for fully-funded postdoctoral associate positions in the area of social psychology.

The position requires involvement in cross-sectional, longitudinal and experimental studies
examining the notions of belief formation, self-sacrifice, and violence. Of major interest is the role of motivation, social networks and ideology in violent extremism. The projects will aim to understand why, and under which circumstances, individuals are willing to sacrifice their lives for a cause. Successful candidates are expected to develop productive collaborations with faculty in the topic of: (a) radicalization, (b) deradicalization, and (c) self-regulation.

Candidates must hold (or be close to completing) a Ph.D. in social psychology, or a related field. PhD holders with a strong publication record, a background in motivation, violent extremism, or persuasion research. Further, statistical expertise in structural equation modeling, is a plus.

The anticipated appointment starting date is August 15th, 2017, with funding guaranteed for a term of one year and opportunity for renewal of the position for additional years following performance evaluation. The terms of employment include competitive salary, housing, and other benefits.
