PhD student Neuroimmunology
Background

Job content
Recent research by our group demonstrates that lipid metabolism is crucial in directing inflammatory and repair processes in the central nervous system. The goal of this project is to identify key players involved in these processes using a transcriptomics and lipidomics approach. Elucidated pathways will be validated using state of the art cell and tissue culture systems, animal models and innovative molecular and cell biology techniques. In addition, the scholar will take up a limited teaching duty in the bachelor or master programs of the faculty.
Profile
Master in biomedical sciences (or equivalent)
Final-year students are (likewise) encouraged to apply.
You are a motivated and ambitious scientist
You have the necessary qualities to function within a multidisciplinary research group.
You are able to work in team as well as individually
You have a good knowledge of the English language
You have a strong problem solving capacity
You have good social and communicative skills
Experience in lipid metabolism, macrophage biology, neuroinflammation en animal research (Felasa C certificate) is an advantage.
Offer
You will be appointed and paid as PhD student.
Scholarship for a period of 2 x 2 years (with evaluation after 2 years)
