Professorship in Psychology

 

The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for one or more positions as Professor in Psychology. The Department of Psychology is interested in applicants with a strong research and teaching profiles in all areas of psychology, including social psychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, developmental, clinical psychology, or psychology of the humanities.  

 

Department of Psychology is one of the leading Scandinavian psychology departments and covers a broad range of disciplines including developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, work and organizational psychology, neuropsychology, and social psychology. The Department has excellent facilities for the study of infant cognition and attachment, cognitive psychology, animal cognition, and clinical psychology.  

 

Our staff comprises about 40 faculty, 10 Postdocs, and 45 PhD students. About 240 students graduate in the five-year Master’s program in psychology per year.  

 

The positions are available from 1st January 2018, but a later date of employment may be negotiated.  

 

Qualifications:  

To be qualified for the position the applicant must have:  

• A documented original academic production at international high level within the field of Psychology.  

• The ability to further the professional advance of the field of Psychology.  

• Strong teaching qualifications.  

• Management experience in relation to research and teaching.

Job description:  

 

General and special duties attached to the position as Professor include:  

• Research within the field of Psychology.  

• Teaching, supervision and examination of undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students.  

• Research leadership.  

• Project management, and external fundraising.  

• Research and teaching management and development.  

• Administrative tasks related to the position.  

• Knowledge sharing and outreach to the rest of the society.

Conditions of employment  

 

The position is offered as an ordinary permanent professorship. Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The annual salary is currently DKK 536.600 (EUR 72,240 app.) plus an annual supplement of DKK 52,900 (EUR 7,122 app.). In addition to the salary paid directly to you, the University will also pay a monthly contribution to your pension fund corresponding to 17.1 % of your salary. • A complete and numbered list of publications.  

• The publications enclosed in the application: maximum 10 publications – that the applicant wishes the assessment committee to consider should be marked with an asterisk (*).  

• Documentation of experience with leadership and managing research.

• Documentation of the ability to disseminate information to and share knowledge with society at large.  

 

If publications marked by an asterisk (*) are the result of joint work, the extent and the nature of the applicant’s contribution to each individual publication must be clarified in the application.

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, applicants are selected for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert assessment committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
