Position Description:

 

The Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph is seeking applications to fill four part-time contractually-limited faculty positions (up to 5 years) at the rank of Assistant Professor. One position will comprise 80% workload, the other three positions, 51% workload. The positions will be based in the Centre for Psychological Training (CPT) with a distribution of effort comprising 75% Teaching, 15% Service, 10% Research, The CPT is an essential component of graduate student training within the MA/PhD program in Clinical Psychology - Applied Developmental Emphasis (CPADE). Our CPA accredited program stresses a developmental approach to clinical psychology with children and adolescents and provides high-quality, supervised training of assessment and therapy. The CPT provides a setting for CPADE students’ practicum training while providing professional assessments and therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents and families in the Guelph community.

 

Reporting to both the Chair of the Department of Psychology, and the Director of the CPT, the incumbent is responsible for teaching, primarily in the form of clinical supervision of therapy and assessment for Masters and Ph.D. level students gaining practicum experience at the CPT, including live supervision, reviewing of videos and regular face to face supervision meetings. The incumbent provides regular written evaluations of student performance to the Director, CPT and the Director of Clinical Training (DCT); reviews and provides feedback and signs students written clinical notes and reports; participates in team intakes and clinic administrative meetings. The incumbent would also play a University service role engaging with the broader CPADE area, participating in clinical training curricular development and implementation, and would make a contribution to ongoing clinical research in the Department of Psychology.

 

Requirements of the position include: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program is required, as well as registration with the Ontario College of Psychologists, authorized to practice with children and adolescents, and 3 years of post-doctoral clinical practice. The candidate is a doctoral level clinical psychologist with experience carrying out assessment and therapy with children, adolescents and families presenting with a range of internalizing, externalizing and neurodevelopmental disorders. Previous experience and a passion for providing clinical supervision to psychology practicum students and/or interns is required.
