The Department of Psychiatry (http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/psychiatry/) is organized around four academic Divisions including General Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry, as well as recognized Programs in Neuropsychiatry and Developmental Disabilities. Our Divisions and Programs provide an academic home for approximately 80 clinical academics and 6 basic scientists and support education, training and research in each of these areas.
We are seeking an academic psychiatrist to work with our Geriatric Psychiatry Program at LHSC, though the possibility of some duties at St. Joseph’s Health Centre London can be negotiated. The division of Geriatric Psychiatry has multiple linkages with other psychiatric facilities, community and homecare agencies, long term care, and local Alzheimer Society Chapters. At the core of our success are strong partnerships with the Division of Geriatric Medicine and health partners such as the South West Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN 2). Together we advocate for and build effective integrated and coordinated service for the care of the elderly. Membership includes an inter-professional group of health care professionals, including geriatric psychiatry, psychology, advance practice nursing, social work, and health care leadership. Opportunities for duties in inpatient, ambulatory including outreach, and consultation-liaison areas exist and can be negotiated. Further details about the Geriatric Psychiatry Division can be found at http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/psychiatry/divisions_programs/geriatric_psychiatry/index.html

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario with certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or be eligible for an academic license from the CPSO.
