- Maintain an established, internationally competitive research program into neurodegenerative diseases and their scientific basis. - Participate in teaching and curriculum development in the Sydney Medical Program and in schools within the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
The Kam Ling Barbara Lo Chair in Neurodegenerative Disorders will be situated at the Brain and Mind Centre of the University of Sydney, a pre-eminent multidisciplinary facility at the forefront of brain and mind sciences. The successful applicant will provide academic leadership in basic neuroscience with translational links to clinical neuroscience, particularly in neurodegenerative and dementia research. The successful candidate may bring particular experience in the realm of inflammation, genetics, animal or cellular models, particularly in relation to large-scale neurodegenerative and dementia-related research programs currently underway at the Brain and Mind Centre.
The appointee will be assigned to the Central Clinical School, Sydney Medical School, and will report to the Bushell Chair of Neurology, the first continuing Chair of Neurology in Australia and one of the most prestigious in the country.

A central element of our Strategic Plan 2016-20 has been the introduction of a new faculty and school structure, including the establishment of a single, integrated Faculty of Medicine and Health, combining the current faculties of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine (Sydney Medical School), Nursing & Midwifery, and Pharmacy. It is anticipated that the new Faculty of Medicine and Health will be implemented in 2018. The Brain and Mind Centre’s neurology group and the Central Clinical School will operate within the new Faculty of Medicine and Health.
Term and remuneration The position is offered on a fixed-term basis initially for up to 5 years, subject to completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees.
