UCLA Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology Health Neuroscientist
RECRUITMENT PERIOD Open December 12th, 2017 through March 31st, 2018
DESCRIPTION The UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology, led by Dr. Michael Irwin, is looking to recruit an Assistant Project Scientist interested in the area of Health Neuroscience to conduct research studies and manage imaging neuroscience operations for the Cousins Center. This position would be for a 2-3 year appointment starting in the Fall of 2018 (start date is flexible).
The ideal candidate for this position would be someone with extensive postdoctoral experience conducting neuroimaging studies and analyzing neuroimaging data (programming experience, such as with matlab, is a plus) and experience working collaboratively with behavioral and health scientists (experience in health psychology and cancer research in particular is a plus). This position will involve conducting new studies relating neural processes to immune parameters (e.g., inflammatory markers, inflammatory gene expression) in both healthy and patient populations (e.g., breast cancer survivors). This scientist will work primarily with Dr. Irwin and Dr. Steven Cole (Director of the Cousins Center Social Genomics Core Laboratory), but would also have an opportunity to collaborate with other Center-affiliated Principal Investigators including Dr. Julienne Bower and Dr. Naomi Eisenberger. In addition to managing imaging neuroscience operations for the Cousins Center, the research scientist would also have opportunities to conduct their own research project.
