Associate Professorship in Social Psychology

 

The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, plans to expand faculty staff by offering one or more positions at the Associate Professor level. The position(s) are available from 1 August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.  

 

Exceptional candidates with an international network, a solid background in research methods and psychological theory, and with a strong potential for interdisciplinary connections within the Department and across the University of Copenhagen are especially encouraged to apply.  

 

Department of Psychology covers a broad range of disciplines including Work- and Organizational psychology, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Personality Psychology, and Psychology of the Humanities. The department has excellent facilities for the study of infant cognition and attachment, cognitive psychology, animal cognition, and clinical psychology. Our staff comprises about 40 faculty, 10 postdocs and 45 PhD students. About 240 students graduate in the five-year Master’s program in psychology per year.  

  

Qualifications  

• Research qualifications within the field of Social Psychology at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period     of employment at the level of assistant professor or equivalent.  

• Strong teaching qualifications within the field of Social Psychology.

 Job description  

General duties attached to the position as Associate Professor include:  

 • Research within the field of Social Psychology  

• Teaching, supervision and examination of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students  

• Knowledge sharing with the rest of the society  

• Research and teaching management  

• Project management and external fundraising  

• Administrative tasks related to the position

Conditions of employment  

Terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The annual salary as Associate Professor is currently DKR 455,000 (EUR 61,000 app.). In addition to the salary paid directly to you, the University will also pay a monthly contribution to the pension fund corresponding to 17.1 % of your salary. If publications marked by an asterisk (*) are the result of a joint effort, the extent and the nature of the applicant’s contribution to each individual work must be clarified in the application, and if possible, a declaration from the co-authors or the head of the institution or office at which the work was completed should be enclosed as well.

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, applicants are selected for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert assessment committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
