The Institute for Social Neuroscience Psychology (ISN Psychology Pty Ltd) is a private, Melbourne based psychology only college. It differentiates itself in the market with a strong career focus, providing students every opportunity to undertake a full degree sequence leading to Postgraduate qualifications, enabling them to be eligible to register and pursue a career in Psychology.
ISN Psychology offer undergraduate to master’s level psychology courses combined with funded research placements in cross-disciplinary research applied to the investigation of the basis of character and temperament. The research arm of the Institute has a strong focus on how events in history impact on individual behaviour and societies and ultimately, explain social behaviour and history in the basic principles and facts of evolution, genetic inheritance, ecology, and physiology. In addition, the co-located ISN Clinic offers as part of its services a low cost community clinic where master’s students conduct supervised clinical practica as part of their degree training.
The Opportunity:
We areseeking a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology with experience teaching within a postgraduate clinical psychology programme, who is a registered clinical psychologist and board approved supervisor. The successful candidate will show evidence of the ability to coordinate at a course/unit level, excellent teaching and supervisory ability, and a passion to achieve quality outcomes within a higher education setting.The successful applicant will contribute to the design, development, review, and evaluation of quality teaching and learning programs, ensuring an effective teaching and learning environment for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The successful applicant will also be responsible for maintaining and advancing their own professional capabilities relevant to ISN Psychology’s aims stated above. The role will encompass leadership and mentoring of academic staff within the College to improve teaching.

Position Description and Selection Criteria
Position specific:
- Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical classes in clinical psychology at postgraduate level using innovative, flexible, and stimulating course material and teaching methods;
- Contribute to teaching and subject coordination at honours, postgraduate, and undergraduate level;
- Participate in the revision and improvement of the postgraduate and undergraduate psychology teaching programmes;
- Provide clinical supervision and support psychological research, including supervision or co-supervision of student research projects;
- Supervise students undertaking clinical placements;
- Contribute to the operations of ISN by participating in committees both internal and external to ISN Psychology;
- Keep abreast of national and international trends and outcomes that make significant contributions to the advancement of psychology knowledge and its applications;
- Undertake leadership and coordination roles (e.g. Postgraduate coordinator) as required.
Generic
- Abide by ISN Psychology corporate policies and practices as varied from time to time;
- Participate in ISN Psychology’s performance appraisal program as required;
- Undertake not to reveal to any person or entity any confidential information relating to patients and employees, policies, processes, and dealings and not to make public statements relating to the affairs of ISN Psychology without prior authority of the President of ISN Psychology;
- Actively participate in the ongoing identification, assessment, treatment, and prevention of risks;
- Participate in the emergency incident response activities as and when required, at the direction of management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Ability to supervise clinical psychology students on practica;
- Demonstrated ability to prepare, coordinate, and deliver teaching courses in postgraduate and undergraduate psychology, including the ability to produce high quality curriculum and program materials at the tertiary level;
- Proven ability to develop innovative/original approaches to course delivery and student-centred learning that successfully exploit new technologies, with a commitment to continuous quality improvement through ongoing training and development;
- Established capacity to work in a team environment and to initiate cross-disciplinary research and teaching;
- Evidence of ability to carry out academic administration to perform academic responsibilities of, and related administration for, the coordination of an award programme, year or course;
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated excellence in problem solving ability and conflict resolution skills.
Desirable but not essential for Performance of the Position
- A sound understanding of information technology, applications relevant to the management of student using learning management systems such as Moodle and Blackboard collaborate
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training to a range of stakeholders
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- A postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology
- Full registration with AHPRA as a psychologist with clinical endorsement
- Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor status for the Higher Degree Program pathway
Preferred:
- Experience in the management of academic staff
- Experience co-ordinating clinical placements
- A PhD in psychology
