A position at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute is available at the level of Research Scholar. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience and several years of postdoctoral experience in Drosophila neurobiology. The position involves leading a team of researchers at Princeton to develop state-of-the-art AI (artificial intelligence) solutions to automate neural reconstruction in EM (electron microscopy) data, and then piloting these solutions to reconstruct several circuits within the Drosophila brain. Once this first phase of the project is completed, the position will involve assembling and organizing a large, diverse community of Drosophila neurobiologists world-wide to manually correct the automated reconstructions and to collectively complete the first connectome of the Drosophila brain, a project we are calling "FlyWire". Therefore the ideal candidate will also have some management experience, and be skilled at working in collaborations. Duties will include recruiting labs, creating instructional materials, training new users, tracking bug reports and feature requests, conflict resolution, collection of qualitative and quantitative data regarding the community, and reporting to the governing body of FlyWire. This is a three-year term position, with the possibility of continuation contingent upon funding and performance.
