This Ph.D. position in Human Psychophysics and Neuroimaging (m/f/d; TV-L E13, 65%) is to investigate the processing of sensory information (visual, auditory, tactile and olfactory) in the human brain, and the use of this information to control body movements and cognitive decisions. Possible projects include, but are not limited to, visual attention (e.g., in visual search or object recognition experiments), visual recognition/discrimination (e.g., in color vision, stereo/dichoptic vision, illusions in central and/or peripheral vision), and visual adaptation. We use a variety of techniques including eye tracking, fMRI, EEG, and other psychology and neuroimaging methods. Responsibilities include Participate in research projects such as lab and equipment set up, data collection, data analysis, writing reports and papers, and presenting at scientific conferences. Assist the lab manager and work in a team for routine laboratory operations, such as planning and preparations for experiments, lab maintenance and lab procedures. Assist and participate in project planning, and mentor and supervise student projects. Requirements Master’s Degree in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, physics or a related natural science or engineering field. Experience in or ability to quickly learn techniques of human visual psychophysics, such as MATLAB programming for experiments, experimental data taking, data analysis, and paper writing. Familiarity with hardware and techniques in eye tracking, EEG, TMS, and other related techniques such as carrying out fMRI experiments is highly desirable.
