Ph.D. Student Position in Psychiatric Neurophysiology 100%
A 4-year Ph.D student position is available in the group of PD Dr. med Yosuke Morishima, at University Hospital of Psychiatry, University of Bern. The group aims to understand dynamics of brain network interactions in psychiatric disorders.
The focus of the position is involved in a new SNF-funded project ("Aberrant local brain oscillations and cortical connectivity in the prodromal state and early psychosis"). Recent research has elucidated that psychiatric illness, in particular psychosis including schizophrenia, is caused by dysfunctional communications in brain networks. However, it is still remains unclear whether such brain network dysfunctionalities precede the onset of psychotic disorders. Our new SNF project will study inter-regional interactions and regional integrity of brain networks in ultra-high-risk state for psychosis by using concurrent transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electroencephalography (EEG) method.
