Doctoral Position in Behavioral and Neuronal Correlates of Arithmetic Across the Lifespan University of Tubingen Department of Psychology
Doctoral Position (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 75%) Faculty of Science, Department of PsychologyApplication deadline : 31.01.2022 The Department of Psychology at the University of Tuebingen invites applications for the following position within the DFG-funded project “The behavioral and neuronal correlates of arithmetic across the lifespan” (PI: Dr. Christina Artemenko) from the next possible starting date: Doctoral Position (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 75%, duration of 3 years) Arithmetic skills are acquired by children in school and are necessary for use in daily life well into old age. The processes underlying arithmetic processing seem to change during development: With increasing age, domain-general cognitive processes (e.g., working memory) decrease, while domain-specific numerical processes (e.g., magnitude processing) increase. This research project aims at investigating the processes underlying arithmetic across the lifespan — from primary school children up to older adults. In addition to behavioral methods, functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) will be used to study brain activation during arithmetic. Who we are looking for:
