Assistant or Associate Professor - Academic Neurologist
Date Posted: 05/05/2022 Description: The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Neurology at Women’s College Hospital (WCH) are seeking to recruit an Academic Headache Neurologist with a position description of Clinician Teacher. The successful candidate must either already hold or be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is July 1st 2022 or earlier if mutually agreeable. The successful candidate will hold an M.D. and FRCPC qualifications (or equivalent specialist designation) with certification in adult Neurology. Applicants must have or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The ideal candidate must also have completed or be currently enrolled in post-residency advanced training in education. The candidate must have a career focused on Headache Medicine and must have completed a minimum 1-year fellowship in Headache Medicine, including experience in the administration of onabotulinumtoxinA PREEMPT protocol for migraine as well as cranial nerve blocks for various headache types. The successful candidate should be an effective teacher, committed to sustained excellence in teaching and scholarly contributions to teaching and education. In addition, the ideal applicant will have excellent communication skills and have demonstrated capacity and aptitude for effective interdisciplinary clinical and scholarly team collaboration and interactions. This position would be based at the Women’s College Hospital (WCH) Centre for Headache. The Centre for Headache is the only academic medical centre in Ontario dedicated to research, education, expert evaluation and individualized treatment plans for patients suffering from migraine, cluster, trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias and many other types of headaches. Women’s College Hospital is the first independent, fully ambulatory hospital in Ontario and is a University of Toronto fully-affiliated teaching hospital. The ideal candidate will have academic aspirations that are aligned with the mission, vision, and values of WCH. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Compensation will also depend upon the amount of clinical work performed but will be in the usual range for an academic neurologist in the Province of Ontario at a minimum of $200,000 per year.
