Position description

Applicants are invited to apply for a specialist position at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Department of Psychological Science. The position is full-time for those with a strong interest in digital mental health especially the evaluation of digital cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention. Level will be dependent on the applicant's background, level of experience, and qualifications. Specialists will work in the TEchnology and Mental Health (TEAM) Lab, directed by Dr. Stephen Schueller, which explores how technology can be used in the treatment and management of mental health and can improve the delivery of mental health services.

Specialists may work on one or more of National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded projects including:

  1. Evaluation of a web-based intervention platform for addressing depression and anxiety
  2. Implementation of a digital cognitive-behavioral therapy platform in a safety-net setting

Job responsibilities include data collection, contacting and scheduling research participants, managing institutional review board (IRB) protocols, data management, monitoring participant assessment completion, and preparing reports. Depending on the applicant's experience and skills, responsibilities may also include conducting literature reviews and collecting scientifically and empirically supported relevant data to assist in manuscript, grant, and conference presentation preparation, data analysis, preparing scientific outputs, conducting mixed-methods data collection in clinical and/or community-based settings.

This is an ideal position for applicants with a strong interest in digital mental health, with opportunities in implementation science, community-engaged work, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. Applicants with bachelors or master’s degrees in psychology, public health, social work or related fields are invited to apply. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred given the topic of the grants the position will be supporting.

● Interpersonal skills; experience building relationships and partnerships, and communicating sensitively with a wide range of stakeholder groups
● Data management skills
Preferred skills:
● Writing and/or leading scientific papers
● Quantitative and qualitative data analysis
● Spanish fluency

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Bachelor's or master’s degrees in psychology, public health, social work or related fields.
