Description The University of Texas at Austin, College of Education, Department of Kinesiology and Health Education is seeking a faculty member in the area of Exercise Physiology at the Assistant Professor level. The mission of the Exercise Physiology program is to advance core knowledge related to the physiological systems of the body and to understand how those systems, and the human body as a whole, are impacted by physical activity, nutrition, rest, and other measures related to the health and wellbeing of the human organism. Our goal is to translate such knowledge into the improvement of clinical outcomes for people across diverse populations and at different stages of the lifespan. Our department has robust undergraduate and graduate programs and is ranked one of the top 10 doctoral programs by the National Academy of Kinesiology. We are committed to an intellectually diverse, welcoming, and engaging working and learning environment and are seeking candidates whose research, teaching, and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to serving students from across Texas, the country, and the world, including those who have been historically underrepresented in higher education. The successful candidate for this position will have the strong potential for research excellence focused broadly on exercise physiology. Although several current faculty specialize in cardiovascular physiology research, applicants investigating metabolism, the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, the nutrition and digestive system, and all other aspects of physiology related to exercise, sport, and physical activity are encouraged to apply. We expect the successful candidate will have a strong record of (or potential for) securing external grants to support their program of research, at the level necessary to ensure the impact of their work. In addition, the successful candidate will be an excellent mentor and will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in exercise physiology and related areas.
