Research Assistant

NUS-HUJ-CREATE Programme for Inflammation Research is a partnership between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJ). The programme was established by the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF) in 2011 under the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). The programme focuses on advancing an understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms of inflammation of diseases prevalent in Asia, a field that is currently under-studied.

Prof Emanuel Hanski’s laboratory, under the NUS-HUJ-CREATE Programme is inviting applications for a Research Assistant position. The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the laboratory which offers excellent training opportunities and the possibility to further the candidate’s research career. Job Description
Candidate with BSc or BSc (Honors) degree and prior lab experience in microbiology and molecular biology is preferred. Candidate will be working in close association with a senior postdoctoral fellow on a project involving elucidation of the mechanism of virulence of group A streptococcus and exploitation of the mechanisms of action of virulence factors to control bacterial infection by the generation of appropriate host inflammatory responses. This is a contractual position that can be renewable depending on candidate’s performance.


BSc or BSc (Honors) Degree in biological or biomedical subjects
Experience in microbiology and molecular biology is preferred
Experience in animal handling and instruments like FACS and fluorescence microscopy will be an added advantage
Highly motivated with ability to work independently/li>
Willing to learn with a positive attitude in work and a good team player
Successful candidates will be required to help in administrative duties, including quotation generation, ordering and maintaining laboratory inventory
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
