Position Description The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. The successful candidate will have expertise in neurophysiology with proficiency in implementing in vivo recording techniques, including: Electrophysiology Optogenetics Behavioral neurophysiology at both cellular and systems levels Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Research Responsibilities: Develop an independent research program focused on adult neurogenesis and circuit-level mechanisms of brain function in the dentate gyrus Conduct experiments and analyses related to neuronal activity in the dentate gyrus of the mouse hippocampus in vivo Attract and maintain extramural funding for research Teaching Responsibilities: Training and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral investigators Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent in Neuroscience or related discipline Distinguished record of scholarship and publications in neurophysiology Experience with in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics, and behavioral neurophysiology Diversity and Inclusion The University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
