Research Associate in Psychotic Disorders

This is a 1 year postdoctoral research post funded by The Alan Turing Institute, to assess the ability of speech data to detect mental health disorders, in particular psychotic disorders.

The post holder will be line managed by Dr Sarah Morgan and will be based at the Psychiatry department in Cambridge, near to Addenbrooke's hospital (or work remotely, in line with COVID-19 restrictions). They will also draw on expertise from a wider group of co-investigators, including Dr Maria Liakata, Dr Tom Spencer, Dr Petra VĂ©rtes, Prof. Ginestra Bianconi, Prof. Edward Bullmore and Prof. Philip McGuire. They will work closely with colleagues from King's College London and The Alan Turing Institute in London, and engage with the data science for mental health and NLP communities at the Institute (either in person or remotely). The position will therefore provide extensive opportunities to collaborate with researchers both in Cambridge, at The Alan Turing Institute and at King's College London, and an excellent base from which to develop expertise in data science for mental health.

Candidates should have a PhD. The successful applicant may have a background in mental health research, although applications from researchers from technical backgrounds (such as physics, engineering, computer science or engineering) who are keen to apply their skills to this exciting area are equally welcome.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
