The Opportunity

The Monash Institute of Cognitive and Clinical Neurosciences (MICCN: housed within the School of Psychological Sciences) is looking to appoint a Research Fellow (Cognitive and Clinical Neurosciences) who will focus on investigating mechanisms of neurodegeneration in the human brain using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

This position will also include implementing and validating experimental scanning protocols, managing and undertaking statistical analysis of the imaging and behavioural data, performing appropriate theoretical and computational modelling, and providing reports of the measurements and results.

Data acquisition and analysis will focus on brain Positron Emission Tomography (PET) using novel investigational tracers in individuals with genetically-determined neurodegenerative diseases, including Huntington’s disease and Friedreich ataxia. Secondary comparisons with MRI measures of neurodegeneration will be undertaken, exploiting multi-modal data acquired using the MR-PET scanner and associated technologies located at Monash Biomedical Imaging (MBI).

To be successful in the role, you will have a doctoral qualification in neuroscience or computational discipline with demonstrated expertise in Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Familiarity and/or expertise with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) modalities, or other relevant disciplines, will be considered a strong asset.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash jobs".
