The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Officer to provide support for ongoing research projects within the Cognitive Neurology Laboratory at Monash University.

The Cognitive Neurology Laboratory studies the neurobiology of learning, memory and decision-making in health and disease. This position will work across a number of program studies involving cognitive neuroscience of decision-making and its impairments in healthy individuals and inpatient populations.

The key components of the work will involve performing a variety of techniques such as behavioural responses, pharmacological interventions, electroencephalography (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and brain lesion studies.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in psychology
  • Strong research skills, including experience working with clinical populations, electroencephalography, and/or neuroimaging
  • A high level of computer literacy, including experience in programming (e.g., Matlab), data analysis (e.g., R), and stimulus delivery (e.g., Presentation).
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and an understanding of confidentiality, privacy and information handling principles
  • Demonstrated project administration skills with the ability to support research projects in accordance with agreed standards and timeframes
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Ideally, we are seeking someone with a bachelor-level degree (e.g., BA or BSc), preferably in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, biology, or a related field.
