Occupational Summary
Perform daily monitoring of the animal rooms and collects data from animal studies and perform genotyping of mousebreeding colonies. Conduct a variety of investigations with a focus on immunohistochemistry, mouse models, and basic molecular biology, within the overall scop e of a research project at Duke University.

Work Performed
Perform laboratory animal handling, monitoring study mice, data collection of animal studies, including body weights, observations, daily husbandry, and animal transfers under the guidance of principal investigator and other lab members in support of research-oriented activities at Duke University.

Prepare mouse tissue and specimens for immunohistochemistry procedures; perform tissue digestion and cell isolation,provide support for flow cytometry assays; and support cell culture workflows. Perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting experiments too btain data for research purposes; compile and document experimental results. Confer with the principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans to meet the needs of the particular experiment as required.

Maintain records and documentation of sample acquisitions and all work performed in an organized lab notebook and an institutional database. Be able to communicate and present results to the principal investigator and other lab members.

Review journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to obtain information to aid in the design and development of procedures and techniques.

Prepare and maintain reagents, buffers,and media for the procedures described above.

Clean and sterilize glassware. Discard autoclaved materials.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Minimum Qualifications

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.
