Researcher in Psychology

The Faculty of Education and Psychology is currently seeking 

Doctoral researcher in the Doctoral programme in Psychology or Cognitive neuroscience starting on 1 January 2024 for a maximum one year (12 months).   

Doctoral researcher position in the Doctoral Programme in Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience will be in the profiling area Emergent Work in the Digital Era (EWIDE). The EWIDE research group is an interdisciplinary research initiative that comprises three focus areas: A) Leadership and management, B) Communication practices, discourses and new competences, and C) Ethical AI and organization. 

The applicant's doctoral dissertation research must focus on the employee well-being and/or sustainable careers in changing work environments. Research on the areas of EWIDE's profiling area C, the forces of change affecting organizational activities, culture and work from the perspective of well-being and careers, is also considered to be a merit. (EWIDE; Emergent Work in Digital Era).  

 

Tasks and qualifications 

Doctoral Researcher’s primary responsibilities include dissertation study and postgraduate education. Minor teaching assistance and other related duties may also be assigned. 

Doctoral Researcher is expected to have a relevant Master’s degree and the right to pursue postgraduate studies in the Doctoral school of Faculty of Education and Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä in the Doctoral programme in Psychology or in Cognitive Neuroscience. Eligible are those students in the Doctoral Program in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience who are supervised by staff from the Department of Psychology. 

Eligible applicants are those students who have the right to pursue postgraduate studies in the Doctoral school of Faculty of Education and Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä in the Doctoral programme in Psychology or in Cognitive Neuroscience at the start of the employment relationship on 1.1.2024. I.e., who have received the right to pursue doctoral studies in autumn 2023 or earlier and who are supervised by staff from the Department of Psychology. 

The duties, eligibility requirements and language skills of Doctoral Researchers are defined in the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Doctoral Researchers are required to have a good command of the English language.

The salary of a successful candidate will be based on level 2-4 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research staff in the salary system om Finnish universities. The total salary for a doctoral student is about 2 300-2 500 € / month, depending on skills and previous experience. With progress of the thesis work, the salary will be revised in accordance with the Collective Agreement of Finnish Universities. A holiday bonus is paid to all employees.

A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

  3. List of publications (including poster and paper presentations at scientific conferences). The list of publications should be composed according to the guidelines of the Academy of Finland. 
  4. Research plan (max 5 pages + references) conforms to the research plan of study application phase, but special emphasis on the following: 
    • - progress of the doctoral studies, manuscripts in preparation, manuscripts which have been submitted or published, the phase of data collection and/or analysis. 
    • - work plan for the applied period (including mobility plan and plan of publishing, when relevant)
