At the Georg-Elias-Müller-Institute for Psychology, Department of Educational Psychology (Prof. Dr. Sascha Schroeder) of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, there is a position as


research assistant on 1 October 2019


with 100% of the regular weekly Working time (currently 39.8 hours / week) limited to occupy until 30.09.2022. The pay is based on the fee group 13 TV-L. The position serves to qualify junior scientists and offers the opportunity for habilitation.


The department examines literacy acquisition in children and adolescents and the cognitive and pedagogical processes that influence it. In addition, she deals with learning and teaching processes in digital contexts. Our work combines pedagogical-psychological and experimental procedures (eye-tracking, EEG, etc.).


Your tasks

• Carrying out research projects within the thematic orientation of the department for further academic qualification

• Teaching activities amounting to 4 SWS per semester (in Bachelor and Master Psychology as well as in the Master of Education)

• Assistance in the coordination and organization of the department, the acquisition of third-party funds and the supervision of qualification and doctoral theses


Your profile

• Completed academic studies in psychology or a similar subject

• Doctorate in psychology or a similar subject (eg cognitive science, linguistics)

• Good Background in basic linguistic and cognitive psychology research

• Previous research focussing on the subject area of the department

• Very good publication

experience in international journals • Teaching

experience in psychology and teaching degrees • Experience in attracting third-party funded projects

• Very good knowledge of methods (especially linear mixed-effect models, Bayesian models)

• Advanced programming skills (especially in R and Python)

• Previous experience with eye movement and EEG procedures

• Very good German and English skills in writing and word

• Ability to independent work, commitment and resilience

• Social skills and fit to the team structure of the department
