The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is passionate about the principles and application of science and technology in all its forms and strives to be excellent in research, teaching and innovation. The Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation has particular strengths in health and wellbeing, the role of exercise and physical activity in the management of chronic health conditions, exercise recovery and neuromuscular adaptations and the optimisation of human performance.


Working within the Department of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation, you will provide expertise in Sport and Exercise Psychology, with specific expertise in the areas of Motor Control/Skill Acquisition and/or Neuropsychology as applied to sport or exercise contexts. This will include designing and delivering high quality teaching activities, undertaking individual and joint research to produce internationally recognised academic outputs and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject. The post may also involve a contribution to research methods teaching and generic skills modules. The Department will consider high quality applications in any area of related research.


You must hold a first degree and be either qualified (SL) or soon to be qualified (L) to Doctoral level in a relevant discipline, have subject expertise in Motor Control/Skill Acquisition and/or Neuropsychology as applied to sport or exercise contexts with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. Proven ability to deliver high quality research led teaching within an appropriate field and a publication profile (or clear potential to develop one) are desirable for this role. Membership (or eligibility for membership) of a relevant professional body is also desirable.
