The Graduate School of Education (GSOE) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) invites applications for a Visiting Open Rank faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in School Psychology. The position can commence as early as July 1, 2019 or as negotiated.


This is initially a one-year appointment and is renewable for up to a second year term. If a decision for reappointment is made, it will be based on an assessment of the candidate’s demonstrated competence in teaching, advising, and research. Course evaluations and student comments are considered. Other evidence of teaching excellence may also be considered, if available. Duties for the Visiting Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor will include course instruction (didactic and practica), advising of master’s theses and/or doctoral dissertations, and research.


The APA-accredited and NASP-approved doctoral-only school psychology program at UCR has an eco-behavioral orientation with a focus on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional prevention and intervention in school settings. As one of three APA-accredited school psychology programs in California, our program is uniquely positioned to influence service delivery for the more than 5 million children that live in Southern California. Our program strives to provide doctoral students with both research and applied experiences in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support, and has a proven history of success in training and placing graduate students with a 100% APPIC Phase I match rate in 2018. Scholars with an interest in conducting research with or supporting practice for students who are culturally or linguistically diverse are highly encouraged to apply.


Minimum Qualifications include: Earned doctorate in School Psychology, credentialed school psychologist, university-level teaching experience, experience advising graduate students’ theses and/or dissertations, demonstration of an ongoing research program.


Preferred Qualifications include: Experience as a faculty member in an APA-accredited School Psychology program. Academic rank will be contingent upon the individual’s level of accomplishments in scholarly activity, as well as experience securing and directing grants, teaching, mentoring graduate students, and service. Salary and research support will be commensurate with an appointment within the University of California system.
